Garden Design and Build in Oxfordshire

If your garden no longer fits how you live, we can redesign and rebuild it so it feels organised, welcoming and easier to look after. Our in-house team looks after everything from the first sketch to the last plant in the ground.

Design and Build for Your Garden

Many people come to us because their garden just is not working anymore. You might have moved house and been left with a bare lawn, or lived there for years and now find the steps, slopes or borders harder to manage than they used to be.

Our design and build service is for when you want a properly thought through garden, planned around how you live, and built by one team who look after the whole project for you.

  • Want to reshape the whole garden, not just “tidy it up”
  • Would like one point of contact rather than juggling different trades
  • Need paths, levels and seating to feel safer and easier to use
  • Want a garden that will be more enjoyable and manageable in the years ahead

1. First visit and conversation

We usually start by visiting you at home to see the garden and talk through what is not working and what you would like instead. We look at levels, access, soil and views, and have an honest chat about what is realistic for your space and budget. If it helps, we can also arrange a follow-up meeting at the GreenArt showroom in Wallingford to look at materials and ideas together. There is no charge for this first visit.

2. Design and outline costs

From that visit we put together hand-drawn plans that show how paths, seating, planting and features could work together. We then talk the drawings through with you, make any changes and give you outline costs so you can decide how far you want to go.

4. Handover and early care

When the garden is finished, we walk it with you, explain the key features and give simple guidance on watering and early care. If you would like ongoing help, our Care and Development team can take on regular visits so the garden stays looking its best.

Gardens for wildlife and changing weather

When we redesign a garden, we are not just thinking about where to put a patio. We look at how the space can support wildlife, cope better with heavier rain and hotter summers, and still feel calm and easy to live with for you.

Many of our clients like the idea that their garden is doing some good beyond the fence, but do not want anything wild or messy. So we build these things in quietly, through the planting, layout and materials we choose.

  • Planting that gives food and shelter to bees, butterflies and birds through the year
  • Using trees, shrubs and groundcover to shade soil and help it hold on to moisture
  • Planning paths, levels and drainage so water runs and soaks away in a controlled way
  • Choosing durable, lower-impact materials and making good use of what is already on site
  • Using simple tools, such as our Garden Biodiversity Index and Climate Resilience checks, to show the difference your new garden is making

Wow what can I say, we took on Green Art to look after our garden last autumn and we are so happy with our decision. The team they have given us..Adam and Toby are absolutely fantastic. They are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, super professional and easy to get on with. We’ve got a great collaboration whereby we discuss priorities, problem solving, planting schemes and ideas and they always go above and beyond to deliver a first class service.

From my very first phone conversation with Jo I knew I had made an excellent choice in GreenArt Garden Design and Landscaping. Shortly after the initial contact with Jo I met with her husband George to discuss what would work for me in terms of design, use, costs and so forth. Within a few days I had a plan which was way beyond expectations and really fabulous providing adventures for grandchildren, something lovely to look at and also relatively easy to maintain
